Girls weekends are the BEST weekends. This past weekend, my friend Laura came up to Raleigh to spend some time with my friend Madison and myself, and we TORE UP the town. Going out of town can be so fun, but I think it’s easy to forget that lots of times there are so many fun things that can be done right outside your doorstep. Plus, when you’re balling on a (strict) budget, staying in town is an obvious cheaper option. Keep scrolling if you wanna check out a few of the fun, boozy things we did & places we checked out.
This place was COOL. You walk in, and the first thing you see are marble, octagon tile floors, and booths lined in green velvet. If that did get your creative juices flowing, they have a fully stocked bar, and cafe. You literally can down a a ~fancy~ liquor drink, then perk back up with a latte. They had a lunch menu, but we ate at a different place earlier that day. I had a French 75 to start, but I randomly lost my voice while we were there, so I tried to fix that with one of their teas.
I honestly don’t remember what kind of tea it was I had, but it was SO GOOD. Laura, Madison, and I had such a great time here! We were literally the only ones there, and acted like straight fools, but when you don’t get to see your friends often when else are you supposed to do?

Vita Vite is, and always will be my favorite place to go and grab a glass of wine in downtown Raleigh. It’s such a cool vibe, and serves GENEROUS pours of wine so you never fill cheated out of a good wine buzz. We had late dinner reservations, and Madison and I were about to start gnawing on the furniture at her condo, so we went there to get an appetizer and pre-dinner drinks. Starting the night there was so great because we had a comfortable place to gossip/continue to act like complete fools, and drink pre-dinner drinks in ~style~.
Along with a glass of chardonay-nay, we ordered the pimento cheese to hold us over until dinner. & Oh. My. Jesus. If this wasn’t some of the best pimento cheese I’ve ever had. I wish we would’ve gotten more because I was so hungry, but whatever. Life is hard and I’ll get over it.
I love the decor in Vita Vite. It’s industrial-ish and a bunch of other stuff that looks really nice put together. There’s really cool art all around, and in the winter they have the fireplaces going. Honestly, if you’re ever in the area you just need to go and check it out because it’s just great.
I honestly forgot we made this reservation. It’s so hard to get a good time here on the weekends, so I just haven’t tried to book anything on my own. I have regrets, so many regrets. I’m kicking myself for not going to dinner here sooner. We were already in the mood to have a great time when we got there, and the staff fed into our antics 100%. Typically, you have to make a reservation AT LEAST a month out in order to get a good time. With that being said, I went ahead and made a reservation for a month and a half from now because I wanna go so bad.
I guzzled the jalapeno margarita. I hate spicy stuff, but this was UHMAZING. Laura and Madison both ordered the Chinese old fashioned.
Laura and I had no idea what to get, so Madison ordered for us. We had pork bao, crab rangoon, these duck egg roll things, and then some pork dumplings. literally, the BEST FOOD I’VE HAD IN MY LIFE.
We went to the bars. I don’t need to explain how that went.
The Morning Times
Any night out needs to be followed up with food/coffee the next morning. Our joint of choice? The Morning Times. They have a bunch of breakfast options, as well as strong, caffeinated coffee. I have spent many a mornings here, especially in college when I had a paper or other boring homework to do. We had the best time chugging our lattes, recapping the night before, and again, acting like straight up fools.
In conclusion, if you’ve read this far into this post, you NEED a staycation. It’s amazing how much you forget you can do where you live until you actually get out and GO. Make sure your favorite lady friends are with you though. That’s when things get crazy, and that’s when the time’s get good.
What are some things you love to do where you live?
