I live on the east coast, so In & Out is something I don’t get to have often, and I’m 89% sure the closed Shake Shack is about a 4 hour drive away. During my trip to Las Vegas, I had the sweet sweet, sweet, sweet experience of being able to indulge in both Shake Shack AND In & Out in the same week #crazy.
Below is a LOUDHOTBLONDE OFFISH REVIEW of both Shake Shack & In & Out for all my people who don’t get to go there that often…keep reading to see which one gets the #LHBStampofApproval!
IN & OUT
In & Out just screams West Coast to me. Not sure why, but maybe it has something to do with it only be located on the West Coast? You’re pretty much walking into a much nicer version of a McDonalds. Everything is CLEAN. If you sit down at a dirty table someone just finished eating at, someone immediately runs to to clean it right at your sitting down #hygiene.
In regards to the food, the burgers really are good. It’s you’re typical burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, spread, all assembled on a toasted bun. They also have a “secret” menu where you can upgrade your burger to animal style (really good tbh), and even add up to 4 patties on your burger. I typically go for he single patty animal style on the rare occasion I get to visit the establishment.
One thing at In & Out I can’t get behind are the fries. Like they are okay. Very okay. They are hand cut right behind the counter, and you can watch it all go down if that’s what floats your boat. I don’t think they are crispy enough, or greasy enough. If I’m going to eat fries, I want a bunch of artery clogging goodness that’s going to make me hate myself after. You can also order your fries animal style, and those are pretty good TBH, but I’m sticking to my guns on the fries being “just okay”
Overall, In & Out is really good, and it’s fun! It’s always a treat getting to go because we don’t have one on the east coast, and it’s posted all over social media by celebs, people traveling over there, etc. Next time your in California (or wherever else there is one), def go out of your way to give it a whirl. Oh, and get the paper hat that the workers wear as well!
Shake Shack
Again, I only knew of Shake Shack via the celebrities I follow on Instagram & Snapchat. I honestly did not seek one out during my last trip to Vegas, it kinda just found be tbh. After I got to my hotel on my last trip to Las Vegas, I was on a mission to find In & Out. I took the tram from my hotel to another resort, and after about an hour my goal went from finding an In & Out, to just some sort of fast food I could take back to my room and shove into my face. I was tired, worn out, and about to give up, when inside a smokey casino I saw a sign that said “Shake Shack This Way”. Immediately I thought, “Hey, I know that place.” I followed the arrow, and I laid my eyes upon the flashing Shake Shack lights and knew I was in for a real treat.
I order the shack burger with fries. It’s just a single patty, with lettuce, onion, tomato, and their house “spread”. I was so close to getting cheese fries (which I regret not getting now), and it was GOOD. REAL GOOD. It was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had, and the fries were super crispy, the right amount of crispy, and perfectly salty. I guess my head wasn’t screwed on right that day, because I didn’t even think to order a milkshake. After talking to multiple people at the conference I was at that week, I determined that the strawberry milkshake would be the best option if I ever were to return to Shake Shack.
Who is LoudHotBlonde approved?
While I love In & Out, and I will always go to one when I find one, Shake Shack has won the coveted LoudHotBlonde Stamp of Approval! In & Out has GREAT burgers and a cool environment, buuuuut the fries don’t do it for me. Shake Shack was great all around. Great burger, great fries, & cool vibes on the inside. However, at the end of the day, both places are clean, the staff is super friendly, and the food is still good. While my personal preference is Shake Shack, you really can’t go wrong with both.
